Heheh, sorry I haven't been posting or updating recently. I'm not even sure anybody comes here anymore. It's been one year since my last journal. Dang, that is a long time. So I suppose I have a lot to catch up on. So here we go!
Since my last post was February 2008, I suppose I will go from there, though I think I posted some deviations that prove I was alive until summertime at least. XD
February
Wow... Too far back to remember, though I believe I had an awesome Valentine's Day.
March
I think spring break happened in March... Which means I went to Japan and spent a lot of money.
April
Uhhh... April Fools?
May
I GRADUATED! And got my drivers license. And went up to Spokane to visit my brother. That was awesome! It's amazing how confused I was, walking around the neighborhood with the sun starting to set, and wondering where all the people were. Then I checked my watch to find out that it was already 9 pm! Also, my first time driving by myself included a four hour drive out to Post Falls, Idaho to visit the awesome BUCK Knives Factory! It's always cool seeing my brother.
June
Flew out to Pittsburgh with my parents to cheer my mom on at the National Kidney Foundation's US Transplant Games. She took silver in swimming! Wooooo! I also visited Hershey PA, and visited Penn State industries where I got some much needed supplies and a ten pound block of soapstone. So that's where the green cravings came from. Soapstone is lousy for carving lasting pieces, by the way. Both carvings have since deteriorated and crumbled. Ended up selling a bone carving I made for my mom, on the plane heading back.
July
Cruised at home, waiting with mixed feelings of dread, apapthy, joy, concern, blargantulousness, wierdness, lonliness, unhappiness, and other assorted feelings, for school to start at Hilo.
August-December
Flew over to Hilo. It was strange yet satisfying. I met my awesome room mate, and things went strange. I worked on hooks, and got back to my Hawaiian roots with traditional hook design, lashing, and weaponry. Also some Kava and the occasional romp to the breakwater for fresh opihi. I used all my meal points in the first 2 months, so my firends helped me survive by supplementing my 5 meals a week. Those were great times, I will never forget. It's neat to know that a lot of the places I went to were swept away by rain and other changes. Makes me feel like the island misses me.
January
Started school. Also started working, self employed. Seems I'm a full-time artist now. The pay isn't that bad, but if it wasn't for me living with my parents back on oahu, I'd be in sad shape. I started working on hooks like crazy, and I sell pens at the Aloha Stadium Swap Meet now. Also, I got a deal making hooks for Graceful earth inc., using a material called tagua nut. I'll post some pictures soon.
February
Started workign a rhythm, and now I have a steady hook output. I also rearranged my shop, so expect pictures soon. Also, I just finished a knife today, so expect pictures of that as well.
Well, hopefully you guys are all caught up! Here's to hoping I don't fall behind! Again.

I really like what you are doing with wood and I think you can be proud of your finishing...

To any artist, worthy of the name, all in nature is beautiful, because his eyes, fearlessly accepting all exterior truth, read there, as in an open book, all the inner truth.
